Peace and Quiet Makes Me Happy

I love my family.  I love my husband and my kids.  Sometimes though our home gets very loud and noisy. It doesn't usually bother me unless that noise comes from kids who are not getting a long.  Or who are complaining or whining.  I sometimes just need a moment or two of peace and quiet.  One day a week I get home before everyone else.  I have a solid hour or so with no one home but me.  I have to admit that I look forward to that time.  Just a few minutes of no one needing me to do something.  Or me to intervene or anything else.  I know that someday I will miss the noise.  I know that and so sometimes I feel guilty that I want a minute alone.  But for now I really do look forward to that one hour on Fridays.  Luckily I still have noise left.  So until then I will cherish my moments of peace and quiet and that will make me happy.

Quick, Easy, No Sew Sock Octopus!

My daughter loves to make creations out of old socks. A while ago I actually bought her some cute stripped ankle socks that she could use to craft with. (Her older sister did snag a pair or two to actually wear!) The other day we were searching Pinterest for a fun craft idea to do together when we came across a cute octopus stuffed animal. There were no instructions just a link to an Etsy shop. (They octopus was no longer available.) My daughter immediately thought of that stash of socks and it was decided. Obviously, longer socks would have been better. If we make these again I will be buying cute knee socks! Since there were no instructions and we were using ankle sized socks, we had to come up with our own way of making these cute little sea creatures. We started by using Poly-Fil to make the head. Christmas Lights Make Me Happy

I don't know what it is about lights that I love so much.  I just know that I love them!  I love driving around and looking at them.  I just smile when I see a house and yard filled with lights.  I will travel distances to go see a large display of lights.  I live in Utah and so we often travel to see the Christmas lights at Temple Square in Salt Lake City.  Today my husband and I finally got up most of the lights on our porch.  He hung snowflake lights along the top of our porch and they look great.  We were watching a movie together as a family tonight and our couch faces our porch.  I kept finding myself watching the snowflake lights instead of the movie!  It was even a movie that I really liked!  I really do love lights.  They really do make me happy!

I Am Happy When I Do Something Right

Okay I'm not saying that I don't do the right thing very often.  I'm just saying that when I do something out of the ordinary for me and it turns out right, it is great.  About a week ago I wrote about going and visiting a cute girl who had been hurt in an accident and taking her some "sunshine."  Today her cute mom came to drop off some cookies and a note from her daughter.  It was so sweet.  They are both amazing women who I admire a lot and hope to be more like someday!  Her mom said that her daughter had been having a hard day that day and that the gift I brought was perfect because she needed some "sunshine" in her life at that moment.  I was SO happy that I had taken it to her.  I love doing things for others.  It makes me happy.  (And that will go in the book too!)
